15 month appt

Savannah's fifteen month well check was this week and all is going well. She is still in the first percentile for weight at 18lbs 10oz and measuring in at about 31 inches in the 45th percentile. Everything else checked okay and we were given a list of higher calorie and higher fat foods to try adding to her diet. The problem is when Sav is awake, she is constant motion. She is literally a human hummingbird. Not just normal toddler motion, we are talking constant running and climbing motion. She can scale couches, baby fences and the dog kennel like they are mere mole hills! The only way she is going to gain more weight is if we sedate her for at least five hours a day (I am only kidding!!) or find some kind of miracle high calorie paste!

Getting Savannah to sleep in her own crib has been easier than I initially imagined. The first night we sat next to her as she fell asleep. She only cried for about 40 minutes before she fell asleep standing up in the corner of her crib. She woke up a couple of the times that night but went back to sleep fairly easily. The next night she only cried 2-3 minutes and fell asleep with 30 minutes. She no longer cries when being put into her crib. She has slept all the way through the night on her own twice now. We are still working on consistency!

A New Year

 Time for those pesky resolutions!

As many of you know, I work a very stressful job. In short I am a 911 operator for a large law enforcement agency. I often talk to people in their darkest hour, at the exact moment that their lives are changed forever. When I get home at night I love the fact that I share a bed with my baby and my husband. I often watch them sleeping and give thanks for how lucky I am. I relish the feeling of Savannah's hand touching my face as she sleeps next to me. Then reality hits (literally!) as I get kicked in the head with such force that I cannot believe it came from a fifteen month old toddler clad in the cutest footie pajamas ever! So with this we must make a New Years resolution. Savannah needs to start sleeping in her own crib. I am going to miss it, but I think it is time. (Either that or it's a matter of time until I have a black eye or a broken nose!)

We are also still trying to get Savannah to gain more weight. It has been difficult the last few weeks because she has decided to become a picky eater. She will try anything but when she decides she doesn't like it, she spits in out in to her own hand and then politely hands it to me. I think she is just making sure that I know she doesn't like what ever I have fed her!

As for my own goals, I just want to be healthier. That includes eating better and more exercise. If I loose some weight, it will be icing on the proverbial cake. I do have some motivation though since hubby and I have both signed up for our first 5k. It is in October so we should have enough time to get in shape.

All in all we survived last year and are really looking forward to this year. We expect 2012 to be a great year and we are starting off with no surgeries scheduled. Yeah!
