We had a great Christmas at my parents house with the all of our family. Savannah made out like a little bandit! The highlights include a rock n roll Elmo from Grandma and Grandpa, a sweet little kitchen from all of the in-laws, and a tent with little wood animals from Santa. Her dad and I decided to put a few of the toys away for now and we will give them to her in a month or two. That way she will have time to play with them all individually and our living room won't look like eight bombs went off! I am hoping they will mean more to her this way since she seems overwhelmed with all the toys at the moment.

Enjoying the holidays
It has been so busy around here! We have been all over the county shopping, taking Christmas pictures, going to nighttime zoo and doing many other things. I ordered Christmas cards last week and they are awesome. I can't wait until they arrive so I can send them out this week. They are my all time favorite cards so far.

Sav's Tree Update
For those wondering if Savannah's tiny Christmas tree survived the year.... It did and it has almost grown more than Savannah!
Before- In it's little take home pot
After- It has now outgrown it's last pot and is in a new one for the holidays!

Another Appt
We had Savannah's one year checkup with her cleft clinic surgeon today. Her repair looks great and she didn't even bug us about Savannah's weight! Next step will be in a couple months when we start seeing the entire team in one afternoon. They said it will be a couple hours long but we will see all the doctors in one stop. It includes an ENT, orthodontist, plastic surgeon, and speech therapist to name a few. We were also told not to worry about the fact that she is still not talking. They said it was fine and that she will talk when she is ready. It definitely helped put my mind at ease.
Yesterday for the first time ever Savannah was able to suck water through a straw! We were eating out at a restaurant. They brought out a kid's meal water for her. Daddy let Savannah watch him take a drink and then she tried it and she did it!!! I was so shocked that I literally cried a few tears of joy! Then very shortly after she let it all drool out on to Daddy but it is a great start.
Her are some photos from our trip to the Zoo last week.

Happy Halloween!
Savannah had fun yesterday. She had no idea why she was dressed up, but she did like to pet her own costume! We visited both sets of Grandparents and her Aunt, Uncle and Cousin yesterday. Then we headed to a friend's house to watch a movie. All the excitement wore her out and she slept for the entire movie!
Here is our "little stinker" in her natural habitat!
Savannah playing with Mom and Dad's pumpkins!
Just doesn't taste as good as it looks!

1yr Well Check
Good News is....Savannah is still a healthy baby! Bad news, she is still not gaining enough weight. Which is surprising because she is an eating machine. Apparently she is just too active! Today she weighed in at 17lbs 8 oz and that puts her into the 1st percentile. The doctor said we could feed Sav ice cream and be generous with butter in her food in an effort to "fatten" her up. Either way she is a healthy, happy and way too active (at least for her parents!) little girl.

This a tub that we brought back from the hospital when Savannah had palate surgery. To this day it is still one of her favorite toys to play with!

1 year old!!!
It's hard to believe that Savannah is one year old already! The year has absolutely flown by. The first seven months were a struggle at times and extremely stressful but the last 5 months have been a blast! Since her palate repair surgery Savannah has absolutely flourished.
At one year Savannah remains reflux free. She has been completely off Prilosec for a couple of months now and has no relapses. It is so nice not to have to time feedings around the medication. It has really sped up the morning routine. Next month we will meet with her plastic surgeon, her pediatrician, the ENT, the opthalmologist, and the geneticist. They are all follow up appointments and we don't expect anything new to be brought up.
We celebrated her birthday yesterday by going to Julian (a small rural town about an hour away that is known for their apples). We visited the local apple days festival and picked some apples in a nearby orchard. Later in the evening we had dinner with close family. It was a fun day and just the beginning of her birthday weekend. Still ahead- a beach trip, Sea World, and a photo shoot at a nearby park.
She has mastered crawling, stair climbing, and even couch climbing. She eats like she has waited all her life. We have yet to find anything won't eat (including a taste of fried pickles at the fair). She eats like a champ and has started to get a little chub on her legs! Withing the last couple of weeks Savannah has even started walking. It just a few steps here and there but she is off to a great start. She also babbles a lot, although we have only heard her say "mama" consistently. She is also very good at waving hello and clapping her hands which is always accompanied by a big toothy grin. She now has seven teeth and has decided that a great way to use them to sneak up on Mom and Dad and take a big bite of their unsuspecting toes! She loves to hear us shriek in surprise.
Mmmm! Spagetti!
