Eye Exam

Savannah had a routine eye exam last week. They dilated her eyes and she was quite a trooper as usual. She stayed about as still and cooperative as a 22 month old toddler can be. Everything looks good but the doctor believes her corneas are too large. It is a condition known as Megalocornea. Neither Brian and I have it (not inherited) and he is concerned about it. Unfortunately he couldn't really do a thorough exam because she was just a little too wiggly.

So in the next two weeks we will be scheduling an appointment to have her eyes examined by a specialist while she is under general anesthesia at Childrens Hospital. He is giving us one week to contact all her other doctors before we make the appointment. He wants to make sure that none of her other doctors want to do anything at the same time (i.e. blood draws or new ear tubes). If she does have Megalocornea it could be either 1. nothing- she just has big corneas or 2. she will be prone to early onset cataracts and glaucoma. So for now we just wait and see. I was really hoping for her not to go under general anesthesia again this soon but at least she is not having anything invasive done.
